Sometimes we Crave our Poison
Cravings, why do we get them?
⚖️ Sometimes We Crave Our Poison
It is important to recognise that not all cravings reflect true need.
There are times when the body seeks what is familiar, stimulating, or emotionally comforting, rather than what is genuinely nourishing. In these moments, we may find ourselves drawn toward what could be described as our “poison.”
This is not a failure of willpower, but an expression of deeper patterns—habit, emotional association, or imbalance within the system.
However, beneath these patterns, there remains a more subtle level of awareness.
As we bring attention to our eating—without judgement—we begin to distinguish between surface cravings and deeper guidance. Over time, this awareness can be refined.
We begin to sense:
What truly nourishes
What depletes
What satisfies only temporarily
This is the beginning of trust.
And from this place, our relationship with food becomes less reactive and more aligned with the body’s true needs.
