🧠The Spleen and the Mind
The function of transformation extends beyond digestion into the realm of thought. The Spleen governs our ability to think, study, concentrate, and process information.
Just as food must be broken down and assimilated, so too must ideas. This connection is reflected in everyday language: we speak of “digesting information,” “chewing something over,” or finding something “hard to digest.”
Overuse of the mind—excessive thinking, studying, or worry—can weaken the Spleen, just as overeating can burden digestion. Likewise, disturbances in digestion can cloud mental clarity. These processes are intimately linked.
